Also, to be really pedantic, the "floppy" part originally referred to the medium itself, not the casing, differentiating it from metal one in hard disks. In that regard, the 3.5" was still quite floppy as well.

German here. In my 80s/90s bubble, we called them floppies instead of Disketten die the most part as well.
