Similarly, D Electeds: don't move your messaging to the "center" bc you think that'll capture the indies/sane rightwingers. READ THE FUCKING ROOM. Mamdani/AOC/Bernie/Crocket/etc are showing you the way. They're speaking "Republican" (& D & indie) bc they're speaking to the actual needs of people.

So true, and it's a good reminder. Still, I don't want us to get into the mindset that since Lake would've been admittedly so much worse that we don't push Gallego to do better, be better, and to rep like we're in the anti-authoritarian fight of our lives.

I had high hopes for Gallego when he first came on the scene. But his voting record is so disheartening, and this latest text scandal is beyond ick.

Terrific conversation. It's time for an authentic lefty populism, one that truly cares about people, not some focus-group approved message. Time to decide what do we believe the role of government truly is.

We should make every D up for re-election pledge to hold the criminals accountable and if they won't, we don't give them our vote. We have to hold them accountable for holding others accountable.
