I was there now I'm here.
Two things:

1: It's awful when movies (or whatever) show you a thing that's supposed to be a child's drawing but it's really an Art Department Adult's drawing.

2: You can eat your butter tofu on pasta instead of rice. No one can stop you.

These facts are sponsored by the concept of authenticity.

Storm Warning (1951)--Rogers and Reagan vs the Klan in a brisk noir melodrama. You get why Reagan got work, but you also get why he stayed a B-tier guy.

Now I'll be digging into Stuart Heisler's pre-TV catalog all summer!

Finally watched this movie, which this year will be old enough to drink.

Many fine ingredients in search of a recipe, but I'm glad to have crossed it off The List.

Farewell, Fizz the Great and Terrible; you were weird and beloved to the end.

Lon Chaney giving Jason Isaacs in 1927.
(Tod Browning's The Unknown. Joan Crawford's here too, fellas!)

Today, a very young woman with an impeccable red lip told me, "You have a real . . . cottagecore, witchy vibe. I just felt like telling you." (We were at the gas station. I was getting lottery tickets and canned wine).
Okay, 1985 me, are you happy now? WE DID IT.

One never knows what to think, but this is *so* bracingly dumb; maybe it's an attempt to distract us from the president's slobbering capitulation to Russia?

Today: bacon, burgers, chicken tenders, and garlic bread. He is refusing some old favorites (ice cream, pancakes, some kinds of dog treats, avocado) but overall, all this trash food seems to be treating him right.

Congrats to everyone who voted for middle class workers to get fired en mass so the wealthy could pay even less in taxes!

Last Dog Standing is refusing most food, but will still eat burgers and fries, if we hand-feed them to him.

See you at the drive-through.

In only moderately political news, I did the thing I've been putting off and watched the last season--to the last episode--of Regular Show. I'm wrecked and will not be taking questions. Stop talking.

February is always terrible, with the rotting snow and the mushy desaturated light, but grieving one dog and watching the other decline (Fizzy, sometimes called "Butterfat" is growing bony, despite a diet of milk, chicken, bananas, broth, and all the snacks) . . . well, it's one for the books.

Grief like a mallet.
Goodbye, Good Dog.

Husband: Nice neckerchief.

Me: Thanks, I was feeling rakish.

Husband: Just like Charles Nelson Reilly!

Feeling very antique and prissy with my 90 year old movie and my sack of licorice allsorts.

A happier note: Fizzy looks pretty fly in his borrowed Abstergo Entertainment tee. He should have been wearing clothes this whole time.

The world is full of events, but around here we are beginning to say goodbye; Doug and Fizz both have cancer.
Aside from that they're mostly feeling okay. But we can hear the clock, and that is our only news.
