I was there now I'm here.
Two things:

1: It's awful when movies (or whatever) show you a thing that's supposed to be a child's drawing but it's really an Art Department Adult's drawing.

2: You can eat your butter tofu on pasta instead of rice. No one can stop you.

These facts are sponsored by the concept of authenticity.

My kingdom for a PS2 (fat) and a copy of Battle Arena Toshinden for this long weekend!

I left for awhile because this is the place where I posted about my dogs dying, and it was hard.

But now I have to finish my syllabi, so I found my password and came back.

Either this or keep searching "goth caftan" all afternoon. Probably both.

Storm Warning (1951)--Rogers and Reagan vs the Klan in a brisk noir melodrama. You get why Reagan got work, but you also get why he stayed a B-tier guy.

Now I'll be digging into Stuart Heisler's pre-TV catalog all summer!

I'm usually indifferent to professional football but I'm *very* interested in work drama that doesn't involve me or anyone I know . . . which is how I ended up checking the NFL draft news every few minutes this morning to see what's up with Shedeur Sanders.

I haven't smoked a cigarette for almost 20 years. I'm often surprised by the sight and smell of someone smoking one now. Surprised and disgusted. Surprised and disgusted and envious. So envious.

Finally watched this movie, which this year will be old enough to drink.

Many fine ingredients in search of a recipe, but I'm glad to have crossed it off The List.

I'm actually sort of enjoying the fake "You have an unpaid toll" texts from "Idaho DMV."
It's nice to get a softball for once.
(Toll roads in Idaho = 0)

The double standard in American politics right now is that the violent response to an election outcome is considered "patriotic" and worthy of pardons, but the sharp response to people effectively losing their jobs, healthcare, and livelihood is considered "derangement."

Today, a very young woman with an impeccable red lip told me, "You have a real . . . cottagecore, witchy vibe. I just felt like telling you." (We were at the gas station. I was getting lottery tickets and canned wine).
Okay, 1985 me, are you happy now? WE DID IT.

One never knows what to think, but this is *so* bracingly dumb; maybe it's an attempt to distract us from the president's slobbering capitulation to Russia?

The cinematography nominees are weird at blinking: Too often or not often enough. Also Dave Bautista wears the hell out of a suit.

I excised the FB app from my phone, but sometimes bounce over there to post stuff from here (and sometimes fight--progress on my "be curious, not judgemental" pledge is imperfect).
Browser-based interface is garbage, but my phone feels cleaner.
