The bonnet height of new cars in Europe is rising; and there is currently no legal limit.

A 10cm increase (from 80 to 90) raises the risk of death in a crash by 27% for pedestrians and cyclists. Children are substantially more likely to be killed as pedestrians in collisions compared to adults.
Ever-rising height of car bonnets a ‘clear threat’ to children, report says
High-fronted vehicles are more likely to kill and are on the rise in Europe with the UK an extreme example

📊 #Airpollution kills thousands, yet does not appear on death certificates as they record medical causes, not risk factors. Only Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah's case broke this pattern after a 5-year legal battle.

Under the rules, large companies (handling more than 1,500 metric tons of pellets a year) will need to obtain a third-party certificate to prove they are complying. However, smaller firms can submit a self-declaration which "could create a loophole that exempts them from accountability" 👇
The EU has agreed binding rules to reduce plastic pellet pollution. Provisional measures will require companies to prevent spills, implement risk management, and report losses — but reliance on self-reporting may limit accountability, environmental groups argue.
