Dozy Dotes
@canuckcobrachick.bsky.social
Korean meat dog mom. Living our best life on Canada’s wet coast. Coffee and doughnut lover who cuts clothes apart and sews them back together again just for fun. Making the best of an imperfect life. Wouldn’t you?
Our rhododendron out front must have a dozen bloom clusters, despite morning frosts on Vancouver Island. Strange. Sure hope it blooms again in March.

Agreed! I saw this sign on my dog walk this afternoon. New one for me here on Vancouver Island.

My mother has deemed me certifiable after I ordered a giant pile of rocks to landscape our yard. Seems I have no idea how much 6 yards of river rocks is (way more than I need, it seems). Thank goodness my next door neighbours allowed me to dump them on their front lawn for now. Hope they’re patient.

After days of rain and wind, we have been blessed with a fabulous sunset. Hope this bodes well for tomorrow.

Heard around that the Philippine Mars water bomber might be headed out from its home on Vancouver Island’s Sproat Lake toward California today. Keeping one ear open for the low rumble of an airborne engine coming overhead. Sad this is the last Mars here.

My front yard. The cute guy up the street shoveled our driveway & sidewalk earlier. I was both relieved and horrified that he thought we were too infirm to shovel. At least no wind. Dogs wouldn’t poop because they can’t find any lawn.

A bit of snow on the ground this morning so a sweater and boots were called for. This is Sweetie, nicknamed Jingles Twinklesnow in his cold weather gear. Doesn’t look impressed, does he. Nope, not one bit.

Get a load of the codswallop that I found on my front porch yesterday. 12 pages of opinions & half-truths presented as facts as well as an internet source for ivermectin with a $10 coupon on 1st order. Best thing about it is it fits the bottom of my bird cage perfectly. Won’t be subscribing.

Sprague soups are pretty good! We use this one a lot, not just as soup but also as the basis of a curry sauce over rice & pasta. I love that it is made in Canada!

I’ve been through 2 very pretty Black & Decker kettles, both either died or broke as soon as the warranty expired. They now are garden flowerpots. I’m looking for something that will last longer than that.

Isn’t that the cutest thing! We did something similar - bought a European toaster that toasts both sides of the bread evenly.
British company called Dualit that makes mostly restaurant toasters.

I didn’t expect this from the Merriam Webster screen shot thingy. Still, I like it!

Good one! I guess I’ll have to be on my guard. It was a bit unfair to not dig the elf out, due to its age. Damn thing must be 70 years old by now.

These are my dog’s boots. She doesn’t love them but after a few years and a few more tries, she’ll allow me to put them on.

@kenkirk.bsky.social A bit of cannabis history for you. Grand National Smoke-In poster. Edmonton’s Borden Park from June 19, 1983. Those were the days!

At least yours has an actual date. Our PQB News doesn’t.

@rainyfool.bsky.social Glad to find you here! Just a quick photo of the 2 dogs we adopted from Korea after Ozzie crossed the rainbow bridge. Your letting us foster fail with Ozzie changed the course of our lives and that of the black one, who was born in a meat farm. Can’t thank you enough!

That’s one intense stare. This is Sweetie watching Mom eat in front of the tv

Here’s my first one, the purse I carry around. Made from a pair of Levis that became too small almost right after I bought them. Made last year before my creative juices dried up.

Damn, I just don’t think that my bichon will really care, not with my mother holding toast.

Here’s one for you. Found an Annas hummingbird nest in a rhododendron in front of to my house this spring. Hoping these 2 little cuties are still around.

Buck hanging out in my front yard in the pouring rain. Doesn’t appear that we have much he’d like to eat. Don’t know where the doe he usually travels with it this afternoon. Still, this isn’t something that we see very often during the day.

There they are, still in the rhododendron. Hope that mom comes and feeds them soon and that we get to see flying lessons in the morning.
May 24, 2024 at 3:04 AM
Sigh. Yesterday I posted a photo of baby hummingbirds in the nest outside my front window. Today’s photo? Damn they grow up so fast. Hope they will be safe in this big wide world.

After a wild rainstorm last night, thrilled to find an undisturbed hummingbird nest in the rhododendron out my front window. There will be flying lessons soon since the nest is getting kinda snug.
