I've covered this in the piece but TLDR:

- there is a legal definition of 'age restricted social media platform'
- esafety doesn't decide who fits the definition, but it does have enforcement powers
- esafety says only its list of 10 platforms in the ban have to worry about the ban ATM

Scoop: The most popular apps in Australia right now are social media platforms not included in the teen ban (so far).

This comes as teens make videos recommending that they all migrate to these alternative platforms to get around the ban — something experts warned about.

NEW: With less than two weeks to go, we still don't know if all of the tech platforms listed as being in the ban are going to comply.

Twitch and Kick have both confirmed to Crikey that they will. But there's still two who won't say:

Politicians behind the teen social media ban have a surprising message: "expect problems".

They are setting expectations that there will be "lots of stories... about how this is a catastrophic failure of process and rollout" but still worthwhile.

"We got a bunch of middle-aged politicians who have no experience in this choosing to have a say over young people.”

Teen activists say they've used social media to share their stories and politically organise. They fear the ban will silence their voice

The Wieambila inquest did not find any individual or agency fault that caused the six deaths (including the three perpetrators)

Violence, fueled by mental illness and conspiracy theories, might not be predictable — but that doesn't mean there's nothing we can do about it.

Snap is the next cab off the rank with its announcement how it's going to comply with Australia's teen social media ban from December 10, including its alerts to users.

On top of facial scans and ID to prove your age, Snapchat users can use a bank account to verify their age.

A High Court challenge to the teen social media ban is expected to be filed as early as next week.

An ex-Liberal candidate with a history of anti-trans remarks, Katherine Deves, is working on the challenge which will argue that LGBTQIA+ teens are unfairly burdened by the ban

That's the fear of a youth worker thinking about the consequences of Australia's teen social media ban.

I wrote about their concerns for their clients, some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged teens, and about their ability to work with them.
