Skill files have a name and a description.

The agent knows the name and description of all available skills, and can go load the skill at will to understand how to do a skill more deeply.

Skills are very simple. It is a folder containing at least a SKILL.md file, as well as optional folders for:

- references
- assets
- scripts

Anthropic publishes Agent Skills, an open standard for skills.

Skills are used to expand an agent's capabilities -- agents can go "load" a specialty, much like how Neo learns kung fu.

This is a big step. Skills are an important way to expand procedural memory for agents.
