the thing about scarecest is that they're weird and incompatible. all my ships have to be weird and incompatible otherwise it's all character dynamic slop that i hate

the car analogy is my favorite one because it does feel like it. it feels like a part of me is going crazy but another is just there, and if it really needs to it can be there to functional normally (like if i have to respond to a DM in the middle of a breakdown or something).

moral of the story/tldr: ultimately artists online are just normal people, they have flaws and strengths, and if you get close to them you will witness both. also don't tell me i'm a cool or interesting person because i will explode.

so i end up stuck in a cycle where i post art without talking too much about personal stuff -> people think i'm cool and tell me i'm cool -> i feel weird anxious dread over it

i don't have super mega trauma or whatever but i do struggle with thoughts of others becoming disappointed in me over time. at the same time i really do not want to overshare publically to give others a taste of who i am as a person, that's impulsive and silly. it never goes well.

by the way, by 'shortcuts' i mean something akin to 'easy way to draw a complicated thing'.
look at the way i draw collars, for example. you can tell it's a collar even though it's super stylized. i draw almost every collar the same way because it's quick and it works.

thankfully once you nail it, it becomes super satisfying. i like drawing different characters in my style.
in the past i didn't have a developed style, but now that i have a firmer grasp on shapes, lines, and art shortcuts, i feel like the way i draw characters is usually distinct in a fun way.
