It’s pretty bad.

But…but

It’s still somehow better than Paramount winning the bid.

God, media consolidation is a nightmare.

Calling that “sexual conduct involving a minor” is a massive stretch.

The basic idea is “this baby is a science project to help me determine whether or not I should wipe out all of humanity”.

Things escalate and it gets, uh, pretty violent.

It’s an interesting enough setup - heroine sets out to kill the southern King of the Dark Beasts and…fails miserably. Out of irritation, the beast king wipes out the kingdom’s entire capitol. But in a moment of whimsy he saves an infant and revives the heroine to help him look after it.

Thankfully, you do still see occasional throwbacks. The recent “Clevatess” felt to me like it had a lot of the look of late 90s dark fantasy anime.

I guess I should ask: are you aware that the studio in question is a well respected indie studio with a solid track record?

I am honestly not sure that should matter, but it might go some way towards explaining for you why it is getting some attention.

What you are essentially advocating for would mean that games an art form are limited to the most blandly non threatening, commercial content possible. You don’t see why that’s bad?

Then let me break it down:
1: Valve is a disproportionate chunk of the PC market, and them not allowing a game can kill its sales.
2: One company having that amount of control over artistic expression is bad
3: They aren’t even consistent or transparent about their own standards

And other people are allowed to criticize Steam for that decision, which is what they’re doing?

At length, yeah. Also “the horse nonce game” or some such.
