Now we have sub-genres and even sub-SUB-genres of Fantasy.

Pre Writing
I have been spending the past week doing what I call pre-writing and I thought that this would be a good post to share on a part of my process. One of the things that many writers struggle with is starting their stories. Sometimes they fight the losing battle of the perfect first chapter. Sometimes they spend hours, if not days, wanting to figure out the tone.

Dean Wesley Smith has this writing process that he calls ‘Writing Into The Dark’. It’s essentially about seeing forward in your story only a short distance. I like his theory, but I propose a slightly different version. I prefer to ‘Write by Torchlight’. Dean Wesley Smith is not a plotter. He sits down to write and push forward, only seeing as far as the next day of writing.

Was this show a comedy? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean that they also didn't have something to say. Alan Alda had his best moments in small monologues like this and the fact that it still applies to the world today means we still have much yet to learn.

That is a lot to be proud of. Small steps to climb the mountain.
4 books in 1 year is insane to me still that I did that. I’m also just surprised at the fact that I published at least 1 short story over the last year and a half. And over the course of 5 years, I’ve published 10 books.
It’s a lot of work and I’m kinda proud of it.
