🔵 Solidarity & holistic support for people on the move
✊Safe routes | End violence | Access to services
This year RWC supported 5,159 women and 5,289 children, facilitated access to 1,340 showers, provided bedding to 2,735 women & families, and secured shelter for 638 families.
Women deserve safety, dignity and visibility.

State policies of deterrence and invisibilisation increase the vulnerability of displaced women and prevent their fundamental rights from being met.
In response, Refugee Women's Centre (RWC) provide holistic support to displaced women & families living in informal outdoor settlements.

Access to 🚿 & 🚽 is limited. It's both a sanitation issue and a matter of safety. Women face harassment & violence. Menstruation, pregnancy & recovery after childbirth are not taken into account. Many are survivors of trafficking, gender-based violence or torture.

But appropriate State response is missing. People on the move are left wet, cold, hurt, without anything.
📣 We call for an end to border violence and appropriate response services for failed crossings. Safe passage now.

Police interventions along the coast create stress & panic. People try to cross from even further to avoid the police, pushing them away from emergency services.
In Calais and Dunkirk, @utopia56.bsky.social runs a 24/7 hotline, patrols the coast and provide 1st support to people.

In 2025, we witness an average of 60 people per boat, compared to 28 in 2021.
As a direct consequence, 2024 was the deadliest year at the border with 89 lives lost. This year already: 41 deaths. At sea, most happen less than 300 metres from the coastline.

📣 Having access to reliable information, a charged phone, and an internet connection restores dignity and has a huge impact on mental health and wellbeing.
These essential services should be provided by the State.
Dignified and sustainable access to basic services for people on the move now!

⛺ The hostile environment & harsh living conditions make it nearly impossible to access accurate information which is essential for making informed decisions. Even State-run services often fail to provide clear and accurate information.

At @projectplayfrance.bsky.social children have a space to play, learn, and grow, time to process their experiences and to simply be children. Yet this service shouldn't have to exist - no child should be denied access to protection.

Tear gas. Police operations. Fear. Violence. In their interactions, children re-enact police raids.
France & the UK are denying children on the move access to their rights as listed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

⛺ @La Capuche Mobilisée provides up to 600 tents and basic support every month, along with sleeping bags & tarps during winter. Still this is no substitute for the dignified, long-term solutions that are urgently needed.

🚔Every 48 hours, police carry out mass evictions, destroying tents, blankets, and essential means of safety. @humanrightsobs.bsky.social documented at least 98 evictions in Calais in the 8 first months of 2025.
Repression is intensifying.
