The likelihood that Harry Potter will mean about as much to future generations as, say, Winker Watson does to today's kids? Yeah, that's less about whatever definition of "liberalism" you can reconcile with being a transphobic freak, more just the unstoppable march of time.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”
Opinion | Why Gen Z Doesn’t Love ‘Harry Potter’
The wizarding worldview is naïve.

I'd like to thank the Academy for ensuring I never have to sit through Wicked 2

Think I've seen Mars Attacks! five times and I just can't bridge the gap between the idea (😁) and how it actually turned out (😐)? Still remember seeing it on 1st release and feeling my enthusiasm drain away over a 30-40 minute opening stretch where LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENS.
What is the movie you have seen the most times that you would say you do NOT like?

I happen to be partial to a well-placed needle drop, but for years I've longed for less obvious ones. An album track, a B-side, an interesting cover? No, it's always Sympathy for the Devil/Space Oddity/Under Pressure/that Tears For Fears one urr-GENNN.
Something must be done about the plague of needle drops. Marty Supreme and OBAA both nearly ruined by them, particularly in their endings

HGL again. My new year's resolution is to finish that fucking box set.

Did *everyone* get Dafoe this year?

Nothing confirmed, but I suspect this new Animal Farm movie may take certain liberties with the source material

Don't wanna harp on this more than it's already been pretty comprehensively harped on, but in another timeline QT is on the promo circuit for The Movie Critic right about now and his in/famous verbosity is skewing more positive, maybe?
If Tarantino feels so starved for attention lately he could always pull his finger out and make Movie #10? It's feeling a bit George RR Martin at this point (y'know, if Martin spent all his time ranting on podcasts about what an overrated fucking hack Diana Wynne Jones was).

Insert a movie into another movie:

DRIVE MY CAR, HE SAID.
Insert a movie into another movie:

RETURN OF THE RETURN OF THE SEVEN JEDI.
Insert a movie into another movie:

Me, Myself, I, Robot, and Irene

This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

Donate to political organizations dedicated to keeping UBI a thing, bc if we've learned anything in recent years it's that good things, even popular ones, are never entirely safe.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Yeah I've seen Metropolis (Benny Hill cut)
Just as horrifying: I polled my students a couple years ago and almost all of them admitted to watching the movies I assigned them at 2x the speed!
Oh my god. She's 1000% right. This makes so much sense.

How can I approach this in a way so's not to offend or unnerve
There's a rumour goin' all around that you ain't been gettin' served
Say that you ain't you-know-what in baby who knows how long
It's hard for me to say what's right when all I wanna do is wrong

Pure projection from the right as usual, given the legions of Rupert Pupkin-style mediocrities manning their podcasts, YouTube channels and talk shows.
The right wing approach now is to put me in a box with an incredibly successful politician who just won a stunning victory.

This is Pure Cope Exhibit A
