"I’m not a bad man, just a misunderstood cheese lover!"
Is it possible that the British ruling class is enjoying this because they're cruel and incompetent?

Anyone trying to shut down criticism of Labour by saying "Reform would be worse" is, at this point, merely helping Labour smooth Reform's path. Anyone who actually wants to stop Reform will recognise that the path to that goes through stopping this iteration of the Labour Party

But surely Northern Ireland is as British as Finchley?

It won't apply to Irish citizens, who have a very special status in UK law, largely treated as if they were not foreign citizens. British citizens living in Ireland have a similar treatment. However, the Common Travel Area arrangements are not treaty based, and can be modified by the UK or Ireland.

If it hasn't already done so, the European Parliament should amend its official records so that the comments made by him are annotated to show he accepted bribes for making them.

Apart from a few half-hearted efforts to claim that some EU policies are 'a punishment for Brexit', the British press has mostly ignored the EU since 2021 and greatly intensified its focus on internal enemies. If Scotland ever becomes independent, England will rip itself apart.

What people want. What people don't want. What actually gets built (Paris, Belgrade, Dublin).

Food price inflation is higher than overall inflation. Food and catering price inflation was officially 5.6% for the year ended October 2025. It's been trending upwards since September 2024. www.ons.gov.uk/economy/infl...

Third generation? Nah, at that point you're the nationality of the country you live in. Even with its generous citizenship-by-descent laws, Ireland requires people to have at least one Irish grandparent to claim citizenship.

Behr et al didn't just support Starmer because he wasn't Corbyn, but because he appeared to match their ideal politician: a business-like administrator who mouthed conventional platitudes and had no interest in challenging the neoliberal orthodoxy. It is that worldview that has failed, not one man.

Complete chaos on the roads in Co. Durham this morning. The only council gritting effort I saw was about 4 lads with shovels chucking a bit of grit on a particularly dodgy stretch of footpath. A Reform-controlled council. Going to get even worse. www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/2561756...
Council job cuts and parking charge rise proposed in County Durham
Parking charges are set to rise and jobs cut as a council looks to make multi-million pound savings to balance its budget.
