Solar power B corp / bring your own everything startup / 5th year anniversary June 21, 2025 / down for the fight / hiring

Today we install flat panels on a roof but who knows what shapes we will use in 10 years. We might spray your next solar system on to the roof. Or put this cool tech down.

Pretty cool…
Goodbye to solar panels: Japan has just broken a rule that had remained intact for more than 140 years and proves that solar panels do not have to be flat
For more than a century, most people have pictured solar power in the same way, as flat blue rectangles on rooftops or in wide fields. That look dates back to

Kind of curious if one of the unsaid ground rules with today's hearing was that the following terms / concepts could not be mentioned:

residential solar / distributed energy resources ( DERs) / antiquated grid / homeowner choices

If you really want to lower prices, might add these into the mix.

Energy + Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committees hearing today in Harrisburg PA was worth listening too... Energy costs are a thing right now. It is easy to blame data centers and AI but their energy needs only point out how antiquated our grid is and why that is a problem.

Happy 4th of July America…

Now let’s get to work and return this to a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

For the record, we like John Fetterman as a person and as our U.S. Senator.

But enough is enough.

Senator Fetterman stop complaining about the Democrats.

Stop your self absorbed whining and stand big boy, straight up,Carhart tall, and clearly denounce US military troops in our cities.

NOW.

Just a phenomenal example of a textbook tornado supercell in western Texas ongoing right now. Classic hook echo, gargantuan mesocyclone, and an extraordinarily impressive ZDR signature likely indicative of giant hail.

Spain / Portugal blackout: grid operator knows what tripped and caused blackout. But rather than say grid is old and transmission is equally brittle, just blame solar. Grid is transmission and merchant generators ( think legacy ) and incapable of finding any fault in the status quo they preserve.

South facing solar modules will out perform north facing glass… yes. But BOTH will still beat doing nothing and renting your electricity. Get going… the best solar systems are the ones that get built.

We are not sure who created this but it seems appropriate for a late Friday posting.

WARNING: may cause nausea and vegans.

Planning Committee meeting for April 1 has been cancelled “due to light Agenda topics’.

Is this an early April Fool’s from #PJM?

Nothing to plan? Really?

In the midst of the most consequential decade of electrification and PJM is “light” on things to

Big fan of Tesla, the only car company in the U.S. actually making a respectable # of EVs annually unlike the incumbents.

Prefer to remember Elon driving on 101 in the early models - big guy in little cars.

Fun to see him then…

But these days Elon is such an ass.

Chatter about Elon becoming Speaker of the House is curious.

His qualifications aside, the Speaker is next in line behind the VP in Presidential Succession.

Elon becomes Speaker, Vance resigns and then…

Fact: LBJ went without a VP for over a year until his second term started.

If we want to help power the clean energy transition, then we are going to need some healthy rotator cuffs at the very least. Fun to do PT and see a happy Butterfly solar customer also getting stronger.

AI meets supply and demand boundaries in wholesale electricity markets. AI doesn’t like the lack of unlimited energy.

AI is energy rapacious to say the least and, surprise, also resourceful!

AI begins spinning the dangerous gap/ looming disaster narrative if it doesn’t get what it wants.

Irony: The gains lately in fracking ( aka oil & gas exploration) efficiency and improved run times coming from a common source: increased electrification underground.

Swapping out ICEs and putting in motors instead is legit.

Pumps are best example where electric trumps gas.

Remember: if the tv channels you are watching are filled with car ads, then don’t expect to hear anything about climate change on them.

Rule # 1 in selling advertising: don’t piss off the people paying for your tv commercials.
