If you’re in the Edgewater/Rogers Park area, we need people with their whistles on visibly out on patrol. Even if it’s just a walk on your lunch break or while you walk your dog, it matters. This is an all hands on deck day. Whatever you can do. ICE is heavily present in the area. Hope I see you.

While the feds continue to play stupid games, SNAP recipients are set to lose food aid for the next month. In the Bay Area, a growing number of restaurants are stepping up to help, and we're maintaining the list. Share with anyone who needs it. www.coyotemedia.org/these-bay-ar...

People are SNAP aren't going to tell you they're on SNAP. They're kids, or elders and heavily stigmatized. People are going to very quietly go hungry. So stock your community fridge. Leave out unperishables along w/ Halloween candy. Deliver meals if you've got a car. Hunger is a quiet thing.

CHP is currently pushing people out of the entrance to Coast Guard Island, Alameda, California, where ICE agents and federal guard are being housed. They’ve been asked to clear the street so “civilians” can leave the base. Unclear what they mean by “civilians” and won’t offer more information.

Today I learned that empathy without direction can be toxic. In other words, the empathy we feel while doomscrolling can actually be physiologically harmful if we don't let it lead us to join mutual aid or community defense efforts

San Francisco, like numerous American cities, is deeply segregated by class. Thinking that this solitary event indicates a trend, let alone one that transcends social division, is just silly?

Gentle reminder that polls don't gauge what is ethical or just. A poll about how "most Americans" feel about trans healthcare is simply a way to understand how effective media and religious campaigns have been in their transphobia.

No Kings is a liberal protest and critiques of that are valid. That being said, this is a massive number of people and they represent a huge opportunity unlike any we’ve seen in years. I hope that most of us can do both, see what’s presented here and push it forward instead of tearing it down

Grateful to @prismreports.org for the space to cover whats happening in my community as transphobia deepens at a national level and to @deanspade.bsky.social for offering framing beyond the individualism usually associated with unemployment
Jobs alone cannot solve trans unemployment, @but-im-kim-tran.bsky.social reports. A complex matrix of poverty & punishment fuels the trans unemployment crisis, as community members experience roughly twice the rates of joblessness as cisgender people.

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.
Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.
Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

In Chicago right now and we all need to prepare for the extreme variance of different areas. The marathon was yesterday and people everywhere just hanging out having coffee. Even in Rogers Park last night things felt calm. A good reminder to keep building in the face of false calm.
