Walked out of work a little after 5. Radar showing a storm moving in. So I’ll catch an 8, ride all the way to West View, work on cleaning out my locker until it’s past. Then I’ll take another 8 out to where the bike’s parked. 17:17 8 ob 6704 7St at Penn Ave. 3/

Doing my Sunday running around today ahead of the storm. Drove a bunch of stuff to the locker, grabbed ton of {bread|milk|beer|TP} bc we’ll certainly be stuck inside for two months (jk). Then 14:57 8 ib 1710 WVw Park Dr at Giant Eagle. 1/

Well, I made it! 5:48 O1 ib 6817 Perry park & ride 2nd shelter. Bus was leaving 1st shelter as I was pulling into the lot. That’s too close. But I’m on the bus & that’s what counts. 1/

Another adventure to Squirrel Hill for the afternoon. Would’ve liked to start this morning around 10:30 since I had a noon commitment downtown but that turned out to be a noon meeting at home with the downtown people. Fine but that squoze me into trynaget to Squill by 2:30. 1/

Drove to Monroeville. More specifically, drove wife to a medical appointment in Mrv. No reasonable alternative. Even 25 years ago when we had 2x today’s levels of transit service, it might’ve been possible but darn difficult. 1/

The temptation is great, after a 6” snowfall, when passing in or out of a store and see that their snow shovel is within reach, to borrow it and clear off their walk a little better than the staff did.

Catching the rare inbound bus up the street. 16:20 O12 ib 6604 Perry Hwy at Rolshouse. Wow, Perry is backed up all the way from Three Degree to the light at Pines Plaza. Fortunately we’re making a left here; the left lane backup is a more typical 10 or so cars. 1/

I am not against the use of cars. I am against total reliance on cars for every transportation need. Figure out how to get what you need done, done, or get where you're going, without using a car, anyone's car. Online? Phone? Walk? Bike? Bus? Some combination? Figure it out, make it work.

A frigid morning in Pittsburgh, 15°F when I walked out the door. Fortunately the car started right up. Had to make a stop in West View before getting on the bus, plus will need the car later to move a large item. 1/
