Thinking a lot about this, these days. There is never enough time, and days go by so fast.
Upon Reflection My oldest's wit is a razor wielded with neutral pronouns and shock dyed hair. My son' s smile is a light, shining from kind eyes and a staggering empathy. I have juggled morals, and trauma, and hard choices in hard places To make it to them. I would do it all again. They have their own roads ahead And I cringe at the climate for their journeys I can't save them from it all I can't take their heartaches I can't make the world safe for them As I would hope to All I can do is try, fight for them, teach them to fight for themselves And Make sure the burning world stops at my front door.

Magpie My Father lives in the past tense. He proudly tells stories that make him smile, Like a magpie chortling over a shiny rock. He remembers them because he was there, We remember them because of repetition. He will proclaim (with no irony) that he never grew up. I remember his harsh adult, I know the 'him' he has forgotten. I give him the grace of forgetting to remember that Father. So far, for me, it remains a choice I know this decline should be terrible, but selfishly, I watch each word transport him back Days that made him smile. So I skip the ones that made me cry.

Unknown Artist An impressionist garden! Beautiful hues of pink and greens... Is that a bee? fairly sure that splotch Is meant to be a bee. Efficiently done. Capable even, Oh hell let's just throw talented in..if not inspired. Cardboard does not do it justice, With that awkward sheen meant for florescent lights and sale stickers. An impressionist garden! All For me to wipe the vomit spittle from My mouth. Who do they hire to paint tissue boxes? What is the language of the contract? I wonder does the artist's mother have Pallets of them. Splotchy bees with a hint of aloe. The thought leaves my head as the heave starts again at the bottom of my ribs, and the garden turns sideways as my head dips below it's horizon.

Windows Gazing I don't want to be famous, I want to be relevant. Famous last words, Spoken in half truth To people who don't care Either way. I don't want to be rich I want to be comfortable. Said by the man, who is neither, To the person randomly nodding, As their thumb judges the happiness, Of people who are both. I don't need to be right I just need to be heard. I say to no one and everyone at the same time. I silently ask them to judge my happiness, And judge my progress. Then I window shop on my phone for A new perspective.
