Today, I took to the House floor to honor the 48 million Americans who provide care to their loved ones – especially members of the “sandwich generation” who take care of both their aging parents and their own children.

To all of the family caregivers in Illinois and across the country: thank you.

I’m thrilled to announce more than $789,000 to support fire departments across Central and Southern Illinois! This federal funding will help ensure that our brave first responders have the equipment, training, and technology they need to stay safe on the job.

I’m thrilled that my team helped one of my constituents recover $104,024 that the Social Security Administration owed her. If you need help with a federal agency I encourage you to reach out to my office to see how we can help!

December 7, 1941 is the day that will live in infamy. Today, join me in honoring the soldiers, sailors, and civilians who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor and commend the brave veterans who signed up to fight for our country in the days that followed.

On this day in 1865, the ratification of the 13th Amendment formally ended slavery in the United States. We can never forget this shameful chapter of American history and we must be unyielding in the fight for equality that continues to this day.

Supporting surviving families and disabled veterans is non-negotiable, but doing so on the backs of other disabled veterans is a nonstarter. Let’s come together to find a better way to fund these much-needed benefits – like making billionaires pay their fair share.

Today, we mark the 70th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott beginning - a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement. As we honor civil rights heroes like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, let’s carry on their legacy by continuing to fight for equality and justice today.

🚨New @lcv.org report shows that Illinois was a national leader in clean energy this year – and that our state’s investments in wind and solar are helping consumers with skyrocketing utility bills! I’ve been proud to partner with @ilenviro.bsky.social to push for this progress.

Excited to unveil the New Dem Coalition Health Care Action Plan today! Our framework isn’t only about reversing Republicans’ manufactured healthcare crisis, it’s about creating a new standard where quality care is affordable and accessible to every American.

ICYMI: I sent a letter to the management of Sangamon Towers in Springfield demanding they take action to address the unsafe and unsanitary conditions in the apartment building. I will keep fighting until these issues are resolved for residents.

Today is World AIDS Day, where we come together to raise awareness and honor those we’ve lost to this disease. As a nation, we cannot turn our back on our partners working to save lives and end HIV/AIDS once and for all.

Today, I am thinking of the five innocent lives stolen at Club Q in Colorado Springs three years ago. We must continue to stand up to anti-LGBTQ+ hate to build a future where everyone can live and love freely, without fear.

Illinoisans have paid $766 more this year because of inflation under President Trump. Instead of building ballrooms and bailing out Argentina, the president should focus on lowering costs for working families.
