We can't hope to motivate effective action when we use the wrong tools at the wrong time. I wish local organizers would learn that.

As the event went on, the focus shifted away from vigil for the dead. It became something else entirely, with one organizer leading a rendition of "What Side Are You On" - a labor anthem from 100 years ago.

People were asking each other how the messages were relevant and began quietly leaving.
