Took a day trip to Florence, AL to stop by the Rosenbaum house, the first Usonian home built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1939.

I can understand why the family stayed there for 60 years. It's cool to have such an amazing example of design history so close to home!

Late night tonight, but I made great progress on the presentation for my interview.

Glad I get to start a weekend filled with good art and better people 📚🎨🖖🏻

Reached row 92 before the weather got the best of me this weekend!

It's moving at a brisk pace of 5 rows per hour. The fabric is beautiful, and I can't wait to see how it drapes when finished.

My PhD interview happens in 2 weeks ~

If anyone has insight on what to expect from a candidacy interview in the UK, I would love to hear from you!

This Day in Labor History: January 18, 1913. Teachers in New York City held the first meeting of what would become the Teachers League in New York. This would spur the creation of the American Federation of Teachers a few years later and moved forward American teacher unionism significantly!!!

Putting the work to bed for the night with 62 rows complete 🧶

I'm making slow and steady progress, and it's starting to look much more like a butterfly wing. I have to take lots of brain breaks though. Each row is divided across three pages and the stitch count in each spot also changes each row 🫠🙃

My family and I attended a local vigil for Renee Good tonight, organized by a grassroots group.

When we arrived, it was styled as a memorial for all of the people murdered by ICE. One woman was handing out electric candles, and a speaker was educating the crowd on civic participation.

The lectures in my econ class were filmed when overhead projectors were still in use, and the running example talks about a company that produces film for cameras.

It's amazing, but I have a weird craving for Bagel Bites and Capri Sun.

In bed with the flu today, watching lectures and crocheting a sweater for my oldest 🤒🫖🧶

This crochet pattern is The Monarch Butterfly by Byabimi on Ravelry. I can't recommend it in good faith (unless you have some serious technical chops).

I'm about 50 rows in, working three colors at a time 🖖🏻

Happy New Year! ✨️

Last year was a dream filled with art making, time in community, and learning new things. Here's to more of the same in 2026! 🥂

Gen AI tools are not good sources for information during rapidly unfolding, novel events. Words associations aren't helpful for discovering ground truth. These tools are more likely to echo and contribute to the inherent uncertainty and ambiguity of crisis events.

Today is not a great day for knitting.

I managed to lose 2" during the armhole shaping on my new sweater project AND felt the sweater I made last year into a geometric mess. 🥲

Celebrating the end of finals week by staying up WAY too late doing sweater math.

The yarn is Inka from Mirasol - a viscose/alpaca blend - worked at a gauge of 4sts/inch. It's incredible.

Making the pattern as I go, loosely based on one of Jane Kaczmarek's tops from Malcom in the Middle!
