If you can afford bottled water, you can afford a simple filter system/device. It doesn't need to be a whole-house, it can be an on-demand tap filter, it can be a pitcher-type filter.
Those that have fridges, lots of those have filter systems OR its pretty easy to install a single-item filter to.

It's the same here in BC, it's the same in Alberta too.

Compared to the Dash8 100/300, no the Q400s are indeed quieter.
Though I do miss the distinct rattle each 300 had.

Sure if they want to contract out service providers, sure I can live with that, but the government NEEDS to fund the system as-a-whole and be the service provider for the smaller markets.

Not just for passengers, but freight too. Businesses need scheduled freight/courier options too.

The private sector hasn't even made a dent in the network! Inter-provincial of SK-MB is abysmal (like one bus a week). Cannot even rely on @viarailcanada.bsky.social since its only twice weekly via #Saskatoon.
December 28, 2025 at 10:59 AM
I remember when #Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall announced when STC, which was the most comprehensive inter-city bus+freight networks in Canada, was being shutdown citing the private sector will fill the gaps.

And here we are almost 10-years later and SK transportation sucks!

And SE #BritishColumbia, it too has a serious inter-regional connectivity issues that hasn't been addressed from the Canada departure of Greyhound. There's pretty well nothing.
December 28, 2025 at 10:54 AM
Its not just Island Communities, its ALL communities right across Canada.

Interior and Norhern BC connections are decimated from the departure of Greyhound. BC Bus North/@bctransit.com have established "some" connection, but its nothing to Greyhound

the average person doesn't care [about environmental plastic bans]. They just want their plastic straws and single use grocery bags.

5-years of labour stability is huge for both Canada Post and the SMBs that rely on affordable shipping.

I do still want to see the corperations plan they submitted to the government though.
December 23, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Canada Post should be a service, but like the CBC, VIA, and others - they are currently crown corporations.
A crown corp ≠ nonprofit.

Could be either, would have the same communication protocol

There is a Bluetooth one.

I remember back in like 2009/2010 they were like the popular tech novelty gift.

Both @cathmckenna.bsky.social and @stevenguilbeault.bsky.social were the environment ministers we needed (and arguably still still) at the cabinet table.
December 20, 2025 at 11:08 AM
@stevenbeschloss.bsky.social is definitely a crusader, and as a Canadian from the west (BC) I do greatly applaud his position and the Climate Regulations he helped usher in.
Carney [along with Hodgson and Dabrusin] need to respect the real realities of Climate change and yes that involves less deals

Yeah. It comes when you least except, when you get use to the routine of the link hider.

I really just want my [weekly] community newspaper back too, I hate reading shit on a screen.
December 18, 2025 at 5:39 AM
Until they catch it.

I've used a few of these, but like within a week FB flags it as news again. I just gave up. And have basically given up on FB altogether.

But if there is something I want to share, I'll do a QR Code of that news site and share it as an image.

The "too much work to post on multiple platforms" is a a stretch.

There are many platforms that will cross-post and enable central upkeep (DMs, comments, replies, etc) that you post once it broadcasts to all.

These have existed for over the past decade.

Great time for the @viarailcanada.bsky.social Kamloops-Vancouver service!

It's too bad it's only twice weekly. Should be at least once a day.
December 14, 2025 at 3:22 AM
Good God.

I haven't looked into the new superintendent much eithee, but the couple PR releases don't really instill much confidence.
December 14, 2025 at 3:16 AM
It depends on the use-case. Things like drills and 1/4" impacts, those are so awesome to be cordless and they work well for professionals.

Now say a grinder, core-drill, 3/4/1-inch impact, for me as an ironworker/welder, yeah I'm going straight to 120VAC or pneumatic.
