ELLIS Observer Staff Writer Mike Bovino has some advice for New Year's Eve partygoers -if you drink, don't drive. You could kill someone, as he did. Bovino, 37. is serving an 18-month prison sentence in the N.C. prison unit in Huntersville for killing a woman with his car last June near Blowing Rock. Bovino was drunk. "I wouldn't wish what has happened to me on anybody," a conscience-stricken Bovino said Wednesday. "Getting dead drunk just isn't worth it." The woman he killed, Jane Mitchell, 24, never knew what hit her. It was just after midnight last June 5 when Bovino started driving home from a friend's home, where he had been drinking beer since 7 p.m.. "I had two, maybe three six-packs of beer. I don't remember how many. I turned onto the highway and just drove down the wrong side," he said. "I saw the lights from another car, but I thought they were in the other lane. Then, it was over so fast." Bovino's 1978 Dodge four-wheel drive pickup hit Mitchell's Datsun sedan head-on about a mile north of Blowing Rock on U.S. 321. Mitchell, who had gone on a drive with her husband to get doughnuts, was killed instantly. Her husband was seriously injured. Bovino was thrown into the middle of the highway but received, he says, "only a few bumps and bruises." "I didn't think I was drunk, but I blew .18 (on a Breathalyzer test)," Bovino said, struggling awkwardly with his handcuffs to smoke a Marlboro cigarette. Under N.C. law, a .10 blood alcohol content reading is considered conclusive evidence of incapacitation. The N.C. Highway Patrol reports that the number of arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) is down slightly this year compared to 1980. Through Novem-ber, the patrol had arrested 44,330 persons for DUI, compared to 44,951 through November 1980. WILD story in which I think both parties here made a LOT of mistakes.

- The masked HSI agent (who allegedly displayed a badge) jumped into the front seat of a running car.
- The person in the car took off, fearing kidnapping (a not unreasonable fear), and refused to stop despite lights and sirens.
Frazier, 23, pulled up next to the Kia in a Jeep SUV with Bamigboye, 24, in the front passenger seat. When Bamigboye spotted the unmarked Explorer, he allegedly pulled a mask over his face and got out of the Jeep. According to the FBI affidavit, the HSI agents walked up to the Jeep, displayed their badges, identified themselves as law enforcement officers and told Bamigboye that they wanted to talk about his immigration status. Bamigboye then allegedly jumped into the Jeep’s back seat and yelled at Frazier to drive away. One of the HSI agents got into the front seat of the Jeep in an effort to stop Frazier while Bamigboye tried to push him out and a second agent tried to pull Bamigboye out of the back seat. Frazier allegedly put the vehicle in gear and drove off. The HSI agent “was now being involuntarily carried in the Jeep as it drove,” according to the FBI. The HSI agent tried to put the Jeep in park, but Frazier continually pushed his hand away, allegedly threatened to crash the car and said that they were taking him to a police station. The agent, who’s assigned to another HSI office and is in Minnesota on “temporary detail for an operation,” is unfamiliar with the Twin Cities, did not know where they were going, and “was in fear that he was being abducted.” From the back seat, Bamigboye called 911, a detail confirmed in an incident report from the Plymouth Police Department. HSI agents pursued the Jeep from close behind with their lights and sirens on, “at one point inadvertently hitting it from behind in the snow.” Even after the agent inside Frazier’s Jeep drew his gun and ordered her to pull over, she allegedly continued driving and stopped only after reaching the New Hope Police Department.

Ismael Ayala-Uribe came to the US at 4 yrs old & worked down the street from my parents house where he was detained in an immigration sweep. He died in ICE custody from lack of medical care.

Remember that California responded by passing Prop 50 last month.

Other states must also counteract Trump's attempt to steal the 2026 midterms.

The station has a range of up to 170 miles (over 270 km), allowing it to monitor a significant portion of Venezuela’s airspace.
