The wealth of the richest 1% in America just hit a record $52 trillion. These are the people getting huge tax cuts — paid for by cuts to health care for millions of Americans. Every lie Trump and Republicans are telling right now about the shutdown is meant to distract you from this.

Can't help but think of Tony Benn's words after WW2, which seem so redolent of today's anxieties: "if you can have full employment to kill people, why in God’s name couldn’t you have full employment and good schools, good hospitals, good houses?”
