This is 100% true, but the sad fact is that there is this general thought that if a game is reusing assets that devs are lazy. In general, the lazy dev arguments are thrown around when more often than not some middle manager couldn't justify whatever gamers wanted to their boss.
Fallout New Vegas, Majora's Mask, ER Nightreign, and so many games that are just mods of other games proves you can make something great out of things that are already made

I personally believe if we want to try and dress up using AI gen to "speed up production" as if that is the real concern, we should instead be more okay with reusing already existing assets made by actual humans, rather than generating from a pool of stolen assets at a massive energy cost
