I liked the idea of Avoidance Advent so much that I made my own calendar using the free mode on app.myadvent.net! It starts tomorrow and goes through the 31st. I put a list of 30 things I need to do in a spreadsheet, randomized them, and pasted the results into the calendar. 🙃

Atomic flowers! Genetically engineered plants that would only grow near waste sites, and whose DNA would contain data about the sites.

Trees engineered to turn blue in the presence of radiation.

🧵 I've been low-key obsessed with "this is not a place of honor" for years. After researching it more, I'm HIGH-KEY obsessed with it! Here are some ideas listed on Wikipedia for communicating danger across the 10,000 years that radioactive waste will be lethal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-te...

I'm... somewhat obsessed with "this is not a place of honor" this week, and it's again gotten me wanting to explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone! The game Chernobylite has extensive 3D scans of the CEZ. I realized I could play it while listening to The Caretaker. Here's the result! (w/video filter)

My new print arrived! I hung it up next to my Emotional Support Sword.

Been thinking about my "vintage" apartment a lot this week. Realized I've lived in this building for ten years! (Not all in the same unit, and not all in a row.) Here are some neat things from my apartment, and the ancient callbox in the lobby. :)

Now that I know what I'm looking at, the old dumbwaiters in my apartment building are obvious. The shafts almost all terminate on the ground floor. The 'waiters on the ground floor are all painted over, except one (left). One the right is the painted one in my apartment, behind the fridge.

This was a middle of the night, no-contacts-or-glasses thought. So I didn't do the research then. I have now — and I've verified that Weapon Hex had two sets of regular bone claws. Not two sets of retractable MAGIC WANDS.

Which would've been DOPE.

I was mulling this over last night, but: It's pretty clear one of the problems that I'm having is that I'm not remembering I have free will enough. Both in the sense that I need to be more of an active participant in my life, and in the internet sense of "using my free will for whimsy."

One of my friends on here suggested a Stranger Things sequel, but about the kids as middle aged adults. I both find those sequels interest, and frustrating. Frustrating, for reasons I wrote about back in 2021, when The Matrix 4 (remember that? I don't, really!) was coming out.

THIS is Newsweek's source, folks. An unsourced post on Twitter.

"The EEVblog is the world’s largest and most popular Youtube Engineering channel with over 450,000 subscribers, and hosts one of the most popular engineering community forums The EEVblog Forum (linked above)."

Also, this is my Emotional Support Sword. I bought it for a Halloween party I didn't go to, but I liked it so much I bought a wall bracket for a real sword for it, and also bought a pin referring to it! (Which may go on the wall bracket.)

Late the other night, I bought a print of this. (CW: Illustration of a lady knight with no pants on. Her sword blocks her labia, but not her bush.) I forgot about it entirely until I got the shipping notification.

So... this is going up in my apartment! Next to my mounted Emotional Support Sword!

I wasn't thinking yesterday, and should've included Isaiah Tanenbaum's original LinkedIn post for context.

I mean, look at these! Don't these look like the basis of a cool Fantastic Four uniform, that has an aerospace background and doesn't look like generic spandex?
November 20, 2025 at 8:48 AM
I have this weird thing where I try to revamp the Fantastic Four in my head, even though I'm not interested in them. One thing I want to involve is the space stuff more. Such as, tonight: Making a "4" on a mission patch that looks a bit like a delta (deltas are in a lot of space mission patches).

This reminded me of DHS and ICE. People see them as SO monolithic and necessary now. But I was in my 20s when they were founded. I remember the controversy. And a time before them.

Super upset about this! I really hope the humpback makes it. D:

Tonight I posted the first actual pages of my fan supplement for @rowanrookanddecard.bsky.social's TTRPGs "Heart: The City Beneath" and "Spire: The City Must Fall." It's more bio-horror/fantasy from me, Mr. Bio-Horror, about the Vyskant: A transdimension mantid blood-borne hivemind.

I don't know. I wish I did.

In the short term, there are milestones. Someone cosplaying as a character I co-created. Fan art or fan fics. Someone digging the crates to find my old work. Things that *prove* that my work meant something to someone. That I *communicated*.

In the long term... Nothing?

(Man, I hate "global group chat" so much. It just takes over the timeline for hours or days. Even if it's something I like, I like variety of posts more.)

Decided to stay home and work on my WIP on Halloween.
