Selwyn Hart of #UNSG office: Global military spending in 2024 was US $2.7 trillion or $334 for every person on the planet. What has been pledged to the #FRLD (a little over $700m) is 0.026% of annual spending on war and death.

Richard Sherman opens #UN high-level event on Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage #FRLD by saying "Now is not the time to be timid or to be scared by minority voices even if they are powerful and very loud," likely a stab at an earlier speech made here today

they don't have the capacity to compel obedience by the process of law.

they don't have the capacity to compel obedience by violence.

the only lever by which they can obtain obedience is fear.

do not offer it to them.

Some consultants were probably paid an obscene amount of money to produce this absolutely nonsensical graph (check out the axis labels and tell me otherwise). Entire document is full of empty buzzwords & bullshit and it pisses me off. Sent to attendees of the 6th board mtg of the Loss & Damage Fund.

The budget reconciliation bill Congress is considering would bring funding for immigration enforcement to $200 billion for FY2025 alone. It’s hard to explain how utterly insane this is, but here’s an attempt – with comparisons to #FFD4, foreign aid, climate finance etc. (1/15)

Organized resistance to the Trump/Musk regime is here. As we speak USAID staff are apparently all being "fired" (in quotes since the administration can't actually legally do that, but obvs they don't care and they need to be actually stopped) www.youtube.com/live/77b3CWm...

Late last night, delivered a letter from 100s of CSOs directly to the G77+China Chair urging them to stand up for their people & stand firm in rejecting the current #COP29 negotiating text which is nothing but a Great Escape of Global North countries from their obligations to provide climate finance

Asked about a proposal for $200bn of climate finance a year:

Bolivia’s Diego Pacheco: “Is it a joke?”

Uganda’s Adoni Ayebare: “Is it a joke?”

Kenya’s Ali Mohamed then explained why they consider that completely insufficient #COP29
