Are there health studies being done on people who have/had multiple different cancers? My step dad was just diagnosed with his fourth different cancer.

Oh shit. I just realised no - it really is. I thought I was joking. This is going to require a long and complex backstory. Sorry absolutely not sorry it'll be funny maybe but also you'll learn something.

This is a correct use of the definition of the word "DOGE" meaning "to fuck something up arbitrarily, indiscriminately, and without reason."

That having been said, please view the request from @benanhalt at this link, who got DOGE'd from his job at the USDA and has skills to bring to the table […]

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Not bad for 30 lines of code Hardware keeps getting faster, but it's still worth taking a step back periodically and revisiting your code. You might just uncover a little tweak that wrings out more efficiency or extra throughput than you'd expect.…

Donald Trump has just released a national under 18 trans care ban executive order. I am working through specifically how it tries to do this, and will live tweet here section by section as I read through it.

It is not yet on the website, but has been released via press release.

I realized this morning that I can almost dress entirely in HPC vendor branded clothing. I have storage vendor socks and GPU vendor shirts. Unrealized marketing potential in HPC pants!

MI300X vs H100 vs H200 Benchmark Part 1: Training – CUDA Moat Still Alive
Intro SemiAnalysis has been on a five-month long quest to settle the reality of MI300X. In theory, the MI300X should be at a huge advantage over Nvidia’s H100 and H200 in terms of specifications an…

Mini thread on developer trust for #AMD.

Effectively: the default assumption for AMD is that the stack will be broken.

The community tried to help, but as Dave Airlie said years ago “throwing source code over the fence doesn’t make you FOSS”

#HPC #ROCm
(Not directed at you personally Phil) my concern is around trust. Years ago, the community got rocm working on RDNA1, submitted patches to amd, and those languished until the PRs became stale. Same for RDNA 2. Same for the DC versions of those GPUs. Official support for anything less than 10K is …

Recently took a peek at Twitter and the disinformation is getting substantially more dangerous. Someone could get killed.

The tactics of constantly repeating outright lies, targeting specific people, repurposing years-old footage and presenting them as new is getting to another level. It’s scary.

I'll get straight to the point.

We trained 2 new models. Like BERT, but modern. ModernBERT.

Not some hypey GenAI thing, but a proper workhorse model, for retrieval, classification, etc. Real practical stuff.

It's much faster, more accurate, longer context, and more useful. 🧵
