On November 30, 1993, after years of advocacy by Jim and Sarah Brady, Bill Clinton signed the Brady Bill, which mandated federal background checks on most firearm purchases. The Brady Background Check System has since stopped over 5 million gun sales to prohibited purchasers.

The Trump administration is slashing ATF resources and rolling back oversight of gun dealers making it even more important for states to hold the gun industry accountable. Last week we joined partners in MA for a briefing on a bill that would do that by creating a path to justice in the courts!
