i was literally looking at my dvd of this this morning and thinking “when is Criterion gonna put this out?”

Man, I had to stop playing this last night because it was past my bedtime, but I'm closing in on the end of Trails in the Sky and it's getting real good. Can I ask my boss if I can go home early so that I can help out my video game pals?
I love escaping from the horrors of reality with my fun little video games ☺️

Drank 3 cans of this stuff and it messed up my guts so much that I went through a whole package of Dude Wipes

Now watching Son of Dracula (1943). My memory of this one is pretty foggy but it's kind of a southern noir set on a plantation? Weird setup for a Dracula movie, but I remember enjoying it

There's something about Angst (1983) that feels uniquely evil to me. It's great, but I will never watch it with a loved one, or even recommend it to somebody I wasn't completely sure could handle it

Leisure is more or less fine, but the band is so tied up in their influences that the last thing you'd think while listening to it is "This songwriter will maintain relevancy for the next 34 years." Also MLIR is great and doesn't quite get enough credit because of the bigger hits that followed it

If Tegan and Sara ever want to reduce their workload, they could tour as Tegan OR Sara and then they could just take turns

One last piece of Pigs trivia and then I'll leave you alone: Pigs was directed by Marc Lawrence and stars his daughter Toni Lawrence, who was later married to popular cellphone salesman, Billy Bob Thornton, from 1986-1988

The VinSyn release of Pigs includes alternate openings and endings that went with some of these other titles and they're so different from the directors cut that they might as well be from different movies. One of them is a cheesy riff on the Exorcist with Spider-Pig style hoofprints on the walls.

Pigs doesn't necessarily transcend its cheapo B-movie status, but there's a creative spark here that I respect. It's just a very eccentric movie with distinctly odd performances and bizarre sound design. I kinda liked it

Fuck, I just saw that new Metroid Prime 4 footage and it made me feel terrible.

Sometimes when you're waiting on an apology from somebody you have to give them some grace and allow them time to process what they did. However, after a certain amount of time you need to accept that they meant to treat you like that and will do it again if you give them the opportunity

I'm heading over to a nice little local coffee place I go to sometimes and I just checked their Facebook page to see what was on their breakfast menu and I was SHOCKED to see that they had posted multiple gifs and memes from The Office and now I'm not sure how I feel about giving them by business

Giants and Toys is a shockingly relevant satire built around the cutthroat world of rival candy companies desperately trying to sell the most caramel. I was surprised by how modern the exploration of fame and manufactured celebrity felt. I enjoyed this one a lot

Now watching Yasuzô Masumura's Giants and Toys (1958). I've liked three of this guy's movies now (Blind Beast, Irezumi, and Red Angel) so I'm feeling good about this

What an oddball assortment of movies this week. I'm not sure it's right to call Hudson Hawk a 4 star movie, but I enjoyed it 4 stars worth, so that's what it gets. Anyways, you should all go see Little Amélie.

Whenever I hear anything about "Hamnet" I imagine a dot-com bubble era company that closed in 2002 where you could go online and have hams sent to your house using the power of the world wide web

A local bar owner got some attention recently after a video of them standing up to ICE made the rounds, and now they're getting some negative reviews from conservatives. They are handling the situation very well.

One silly thing in Trails in the Sky that always gets a chuckle out of me is how you can find a cat dictionary that gives you very precise and proper translations for everything cats say in the game. For example, Antoine here just had a big adventure and now he's saying "I am beset by fatigue"
