watching Death by Lightning and I was curious enough to look it up, it turns out it *is* plausible that Roscoe Conkling would call someone a motherfucker.
The word dates back at least to the late 19th century. In an 1889 Texas murder case, a witness testified that the victim had called the defendant a "God damned mother-f—king, bastardly son-of-a-bitch" shortly before his death.[4][5] A later Texas court opinion from 1897 prints the word "mother-fucking" in full.[6][5] In 1917 a U.S. soldier called his draft board "You low-down Mother Fuckers" in a letter.[7]

hey, I got a question. This is from Brookings' bio on Larry Summers -- is this the same sweeping financial deregulation that caused the 2008 market crash?
In July 1999, Summers became Treasury secretary. In that capacity, he helped engineer a historic pay down of U.S. debt, worked successfully to extend the life of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds, and led the effort to enact the most sweeping financial deregulation in sixty years.

Gigantic (cancelled film) On October 10, 2017, Walt Disney Animation Studios President Ed Catmull announced that the film's production was "ending active development for now", with another project, later revealed to be Raya and the Last Dragon, taking up its original release date. Discussing the film being shelved, Catmull stated "It's impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn't working. With Gigantic, we've come to that point, and although it's a difficult decision, we are ending active development for now."[5][6]
