I'm also really craving time & motivation to dig into a hard analytical problem. I think that will only happen when I get a new job where I can solve already-identified problems. I haven't had as much inspiration recently for problems I care to tackle that are reasonable w my limited resources.

And for any of my non-academic/non-tech followers who have no idea what any of this is about, it's in response to this person sharing an article about fake citations, generated by chatbots, that are getting published in real journals.

Anyway, I heartily appreciate both groups of people replying to him. It was a fun way to spend 10 min of my Saturday.

This is so cool! I appreciate you sharing these industry insider insights.

Shooting my shot... If you / anyone you know is hiring a quant researcher, data analyst, or data engineer, I'd be really interested in working on these kinds of questions and problems, and I'm actively looking for work rn.

FWIW I do think my therapist would consider me posting this at 4am as proof the therapy is not helping as much as it should and maybe I should try a calming technique we have discussed and get some sleep.

I think the Riddler is my fave supervillian, but it's been so long since I've seen/read anything w him in it, it could just be childhood nostalgia at this point...

I've attended multiple research talks on AI in healthcare, and significant advances were made due to specific-purpose ML models trained on relevant data. GenAI is an entirely different, general purpose tech not suited to this use case because its error rate is so high.
