When I worked for The Observer I used to see the most fact free pieces on nutrition written up by conspiracy theorists as if they were authorities on food.

Ditto for the BBC.

I’ve even quit jobs because of it.

The public really deserves better

And that’s because pretty everyone knows what the scientific advice is to be healthy.

But ‘scientists say pretty much what they have been saying for 30 years’ isn’t newsworthy (ie profitable)

Def not a new media phenomenon

All the same people filming themselves chucking milk down the sink are also the loudest voices when it comes to misinformation about food processing.

Which is really harmful to public health.
