3. Test ideas early.

I fell into the trap of thinking one of my feature was amazing, only to realize it SUCKS once people try it out in the game. Weeks of work now worthless... So -> Test ideas early, test often, test with different people.

2. Share as much and as early as possible.

Things only clicked for me after I started sharing my work and getting feedback from other devs and players. Showing the game early, gives it more time for it to find its people, and you'll get some valuable feedback too.

1. Keep projects as short as possible.

I would focus on one small project and try to polish an element of it as much as I can. For example, take a Tetris game but focus on just the game feel for three weeks/days/months/whatever, then release it to the wild and/or move on.

Day 5 of our #12daysof gamedev!

I refused to add PvP for a long time. I was afraid to have to tackle that can of worms, but it just made sense once we playtested the game with friends locally. Plus, our team is 100% remote so... Online it is!

Today, I wanted to share a bit about our process adding new pieces to the game. Our artist preps everything so that it's super easy for me to create the prefab in Unity. As easy as 1, 2, 3!

Day 2 is a recommendation for any unity dev out there!

My absolute favorite asset is the Dialogue System from @pixelcrushers.bsky.social. It saved our lives when we were making our first game, and it comes with a neat save system!

Day 1 is a famous trick that we used a lot in our first game While the Iron's Hot ➡️ hiding stuff under the scene so it's already loaded and available when the player needs it!

And then when you’re ready, the BATTLE! I’m working on UI to make it a bit more clear who’s turn it is and who’s winning.

We’ve got a camp scene where you can buy base pawns and upgrade them with items. Basically that’s where you prep your army for the battle to come.
