This week we've been stuck into AI land to improve the difficulty of our single-player battles. It's a bit hard to show that in a video, so instead here's the effects we added to modify the look of our battle scene!

We're adding a new piece to our turn-based strategy game! It's a little robot that you can spawn mid-battle to get some help fighting off the opponent. He's so cute 🥺

For the final day, I wanted to share a look at how we make our characters. It starts with rough sketches, then we do higher-fidelity drawings, and after a lot of work in Blender... it's ready!

I refused to add PvP for a long time. I was afraid to have to tackle that can of worms, but it just made sense once we playtested the game with friends locally. Plus, our team is 100% remote so... Online it is!

Day 1 is a famous trick that we used a lot in our first game While the Iron's Hot ➡️ hiding stuff under the scene so it's already loaded and available when the player needs it!

We’ve got a camp scene where you can buy base pawns and upgrade them with items. Basically that’s where you prep your army for the battle to come.

Each piece can hold up to 4 items, so that's a lot of variations! We needed a way to show ALLLL the piece informations easily, so I worked on this window. It uses a combo of different elements, including hyperlinks to show a quick definition of an important term!

Speaking of evolving, I made a system that allows you to do just that. In the camp scene you can add peasants to your army, and then drop items on them. Based on the combination you've equipped, the piece will change. Pardon the greyboxey art for now!

On the art side, Thiago's been prepping new miniatures! The idea with these is that a peasant can now get equipped with some items, and the combinations will evolve how they look.
