And it's not just citizens. My brother, born and raised in the USA -- the little boy who played soldier with a helmet liner and a pretend rifle, is now unwilling to come visit me. We're both old; we may never see each other again.

You are right except that it IS socialism, and what's wrong with that? Every nation needs a little socialism, a little capitalism, a hunk of libertarianism, even now and then a pinch of authoritarianism. People are complex beings.

I, for one, do NOT approve. And government approval means nothing when you look at where it comes from.
