Definitely do because it's a lot closer to RB than EA Returns is. Just gotta crank up the dip switch difficulty to hard right away cause otherwise it'll have a VERY slow start

Along with other stuff like enemies just sorta hanging out in 1 area & blocking your path forward. In fact past a certain point, that + drone is the main source of challenge. I feel like a successor would need to work on making enemies good at checkmating & pressuring you even without a timer

Also one of the weird quirks of the procgen algo is that enemies seldom spawn from behind you and tend to spawn in large waves rather than cosntantly trickle in, which makes the action cluster on the right side too much & creates a lot of extra safe spots

Also you should play Elevator Action if you haven't, it actually has a static level but randomized enemy spawns and it works extremely well too, often generating even more unique situations than RB

along with yeah how useless melee enemies are + potentially a lack of collision damage & anti airs that would complicate jumping over enemies, which are there in Rolling Bird. Another thing is the drone - it creates some of the best combat scenarios, but is designed to not be much of a factor

Awww yeah, agreed even with the Tetris/action puzzle comparison. I would go further with the crit tho, I think the game has some issues with its mechanics like high jumps overriding high low stuff entirely acting as de facto parries, bits of terrain (2 cell boxes/boxes covering a floor) being 2 safe-

Iframe dodge and seemingly no contact damage? In 2025, after Silksong came out? Wow. That's like putting a password system when saves already exist

Adding bits of randomization into my game until it becomes acceptable to force 1cc's, Ship of Theseus style

It's really nice when I'm not doing a shitton of back to back runs, functions better as a warm up that way

Getting the experience of many kids trying to play JRPGs without a memory card ❤️

Roguelikes designed a single session are sick

Sounds terrible! :)

How about pausing with a total upper limit in minutes that persists across multiple pauses during a run. Enough to go to the bathroom & scratch your nose but not to take a serious break

Bring your diaper if you wanna play
November 30, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Yup, though seems like you can't mess around with dip switches in the collection which is a shame
November 30, 2025 at 5:19 AM
I'm afraid so. Hell remove pausing too
November 30, 2025 at 5:18 AM
💯 real & true

RE6s campaign is actually kinda like this and its a pretty cool structure, issues with the game itself aside
November 30, 2025 at 2:40 AM
Damn put haters in charge of Pacman more often. Though iirc he didn't like it much it cause it didn't have enough emphasis on the action right?
November 29, 2025 at 9:49 AM
Yea I've seen it aroudn but am yet to play it, might as well since I'm doing a tour
