I’m a #pulp culture historian who focuses on vintage men’s adventures magazines and paperbacks. I co-edit the Men’s Adventure Library book series, the MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY magazine and the ART OF RON LESSER book series. My website is MensPulpMags.com.

I first became a fan of Samson Pollen for his men’s adventure magazine artwork, which is featured in three books Wyatt Doyle and I co-edited with him before he passed in 2018 (amzn.to/3t3sMqX). Sam also did many great paperback cover paintings, like this one for the movie tie-in novel CARNY.

A short video I took of a bunch of White Ibis roosting in a Weeping Bottlebrush (Melaleuca viminalis) tree in full bloom, near the Miami Cancer Center where BJ and I came for appointments with her doctors today. The moon made it an even more spectacular sight.

I saw this snail trucking along on the travertine tiles in our back yard patio and wondered if the big crack between two of them that he was headed for would be a problem for him. Nope. He glided right over it. And, yes, I admit it. I am geeky. I love snails. I even take videos of them.

He actually did work for Capone in the 1930s and later became a prolific writer of crime stories.
