She’s adopted. Thanos isn’t completely heartless. He did destroy her entire planet and genocide the rest of her race, but after that… no… it was still messed up. Trained her to be an assassin, made her partly cyborg… messed up.

I think they may have played it twice while I was in the store.

I’m at the Vietnamese restaurant. The choices are all good today.

Much of that entire decade is just a blur to me now. I was working for the local newspaper which was part of EW Scripps at the time. The main computer system I had access to at work was an IBM AS400. My job was compiling driver dispatch notes. Wrote freelance on the side.

BSD was far from my mind.

For a time I had a triple boot laptop running windows NT, FreeBSD, and I can no longer recall which Linux. BSD laptop support was marginal. Mostly used it for NT.

Near the end of its days, my PowerMac 8500 had Yellow Dog Linux partition, before I moved to Texas and most of my kit was recycled.

I might have mistakenly thought that transition was mostly underway before the migration to Apple and MacOS, but I’m not as close to what was actually going on at the time. Also memory is fragile.

I’m silently angry at anyone who says that the Mac is “basically Linux under the hood.”

FreeBSD has been the core reference build underlying macOS since its NeXTStep days. MacOS does certain things in a distinctly BSD way. Now you kids get off of my lawn!

I'm too old for Linux. Outside the Mac, BSD was my thing, so when Apple bought NeXT and rolled out Mac OS X, I would doubly at home. My two favorites were now ONE.

I can do Linux in a pinch. It's okay I guess.

Tacos de Lengua... They charge more for them at my fave taco place (even on taco Tuesday), but SO GOOD!

I remember back in the day when one of the cheapest meals at Denny's was liver and onions, and a group of us SF fans (actually may have been Star Trek specifically) were at Denny's, and I, being perennially broke, ordered the cheapest meal on the menu.

Folks freaked, but it was DELICIOUS.

I remind ALL of my doctors that I have memory issues and that MULTIPLE reminders (text messages especially) are a welcome necessity.

I see this a whole lot from folks outside the United States, who simply aren't familiar with our monetary conventions. I also see folks who use the period "." for the value separator for multiples of 100, or the comma "," for the decimal point.

All of them overseas.
