Somewhere I have a photo of one of the few times my young daughter played with Barbies. She had lined four of them up, in various, eh, modes of attire and each armed with some sort of weapon. It was a gang of thugs with little M-16s and plastic tiddies.

I beg to differ, sir. It’s not the guns. It’s bad actors (no pun intended) who wield them. My guns have never done anything I didn’t make them do. And yes, I’ve gone through a lot of training and licensing. Responsible owners like me aren’t the ones on the evening news.

In a way, it makes sense. U.S. interest in Venezuela is primarily economic: oil and rare earth minerals (REM). Colombia’s ELN, which now runs half of the states in VZ, operates the mines and drug labs. Going after the ELN frees access to REM, cutting Chinese supply. @whodat35.bsky.social

I cannot believe that Trump would pursue these primarily as a national economic strategy; my position is that personal enrichment is his primary motivator. I suspect his relationship with the nation is parasitic — what benefits Trump does not necessarily benefit the nation.
