Hello world! Happy to discuss movies, music, TV series, books, video games and most other things.
I'm rewatching Curb Your Enthusiasm and Leon Black is easily my favorite character in the whole series. Genius portrayal. Hilarious improvisations.

Leon Black, and the feisty Susie Greene. Best sitcom without a laugh track ever.

I found a Pixies album I'd missed: Head Carrier (2016). Great stuff! Felt a bit like vintage Pixies. The guitar sound in All I Think About Now reminded me of Surfer Rosa.

Many classic loud/quiet dynamics.

Favorite tracks:
All I Think About Now
Tenement Song
Might as Well Be Gone
Bel Esprit

Imagine waking up to this view every morning. Nanga Parbat. I miss mountains. I feel drawn to them. Just looking at mountains gives me comfort.

Hot glögg is so damn good. It's a Swedish mulled wine consumed around Christmas. I'm drinking the non-alcoholic version, so I guess it's more like a spicy squash.

I think they put cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger in it. Don't sleep on the glögg. Get yourself a bottle.

Train Dreams (2025). A beautiful and poetic western. Great cinematography. Loved the ending. One of this year's best films. Netflix.

Share a 90s movie that you think deserves more love.

Fucking Åmål (98). Swedish highschool movie. Very moving.

American Movie (99). A doc about a passionate guy making an ultra low-budget horror film. Bonkers and inspiring.

Black Cat, White Cat (98). A boisterous and farcical Serbian tale.

The Threesome (2025). A delightful romantic dramedy! Funny and sweet. I was charmed. The man and the two women were all ridiculously pretty.

I need to wash this down with something horrific to bring me down to earth. I don't want to get unrealistic notions about love.

A few years ago I realized that David St. Hubbins in Spinal Tap and Chuck McGill in Better Call Saul are portrayed by the same actor (Michael McKean). Big span.

This is Spinal Tap is a classic and perhaps the greatest mockumentary ever. Spinal Tap 2 wasn't nearly as funny or as precise in its satire. A few giggles here and there.

Cameos by Paul McCartney, Elton John, Chad Smith, Lars Ulrich and Questlove. 5/10.

One Battle After Another, a new episode of Pluribus, and a chaotic documentary called Pavements about the 90s indie rock band Pavement. That's first class Friday night entertainment in the old cabin.

I was sceptical for the first 40 minutes or so, but ended up loving the very long film. I'm putting One Battle After Another between Phantom Thread and Boogie Nights.

I saw Humane (2024) by Caitlyn Cronenberg. I've watched the movies of David and Brandon Cronenberg. Didn't know he has a filmmaking daughter as well!

An ecological thriller with social commentary and black humor. Siblings fight over who has to be the victim of conscripted euthanasia. I liked it.

Vincent D'Onofrio is in Caught Stealing and I didn't recognize him. He truly is the biggest chameleon in the movie business.

Caught Stealing. My favorite Darren Aronofsky movie since Black Swan.

I went in blind not knowing if it's a comedy, a thriller, or a drama. I should do that more often. A wild and energetic film. I haven't really liked Austin Butler's acting so far, but he shines in this one.

Splitsville was just what I needed this cursed evening. Occasionally hilarious. The same quirky tragicomic vibe as Michael Angelo Covino's previous film The Climb (2019).

He has written both films with Kyle Marvin and they both play lead roles. That fight scene was nuts. A solid 8/10.

Post a horror movie everyone should see

"As a mother and daughter struggle to cope with the terrors of the post-revolution, war-torn Tehran of the 1980s, a mysterious evil begins to haunt their home."

Thought it was great.

I have briefly tried it as part of the Bedtime Mode on Pixel. But I thought it put more strain on my eyes.

It's in the Bedtime Mode settings.

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say Weapons is a fun and twisted horror movie. Several goosebumps. I was vibing with it. Julia Garner and Josh Brolin. Same writer and director as Barbarian. 👍👹👍

Together (2025) was deliciously demented relationship body horror with wife and husband duo Alison Brie and Dave Franco.

The best Star Wars droid.

Andor is making me miss Spain. Another Spanish location, in S2E10. Castillo de Játiva. Whoa.

I think Alien: Earth is the best Alien since the 90s, or the only good Alien since then if I'm being harsh.

I'm a fan. Loving the scenes with Timothy Olyphant.

No wonder so much fantasy and sci-fi is filmed in Spain when they have magical places like this. Saw it in the second season of Andor and had to know where it was filmed. Montserrat, 48km from Barcelona.

The only Billy Joel songs I've actively listened to are Piano Man, Just the Way You Are, and Downeaster Alexa because they're terrific songs. Watched this doc about him anyway.

He talks about his life and music. Lots of old footage and interviews with other artists. Excellent music doc. HBO Max.

Dangerous Animals (2025) was good fun. An outlandish shark movie with a killer twist. Also: romance!
