You see that sign there? It says 'apple sauce.'
Ex-BBC radio, former teacher, Bristolian in exile, loves C20th fiction mainly by female writers, writing, classic TV.
Drinking my late brother-in-law’s favourite whisky whilst watching lovely covers of his favourite musician. RIP Paul.

The weekend begins... here.

Listening to one former colleague trailing his programme on Radio 3 and seeing on LinkedIn that another is a senior editor at the New York Times and wondering where it all went wrong.

Happy Friday.

Keith Floyd cooking on a gas stove in a BBC dubbing suite. You don't get that on Delia Smith.

Consequences may have been the first album ever to have had an entire website devoted to it.

Peter Cook's contributions to the LP were fitted in between filming of Paul Morrissey's disastrous Hound of the Baskervilles. The Denholm Elliot character in that film has the same name as one of the protagonists of Consequences: Mr Stapleton.
'It has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes' (Wikipedia)

The album interleaves songs with a play about the end of the world caused by global conflict in which weather is a weapon. In some ways quite ahead of its time. Peter Cook plays all the male parts: a man seeking a divorce, his lawyer and the strange composer, Mr Blint, who lives in the attic.

It’s my eldest son’s birthday. Which means it’s also Peter Cook’s birthday. A good time to explore his ill-fated 1977 triple album with Godley & Creme, throughout which the number 17 runs. www.suppertime.co.uk/blint/

Pub lunch for child 1’s 26th birthday, pints of Harvey’s, (how did that happen &c), now curled up on the sofa with @raynewman.bsky.social’s Municipal Gothic. (Autocorrect had ‘cursed up on the sofa, possibly appropriately)

Exciting thing in the post!

Oh hello. We're in the same universe as the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Oolon Colluphid writes trashy best-seller nonfiction books. I was more a fan of 'Who Is This God Person Anyway?'

It was a long time ago, but I suppose it's about time someone carried the can for this.
