Feels so good to have been an Aronofsky hater from day 1. I was right actually!!

Have we talked about how ahab using his own razors for his harpoon and then quenching it in the blood of his harpooneers and baptizing it in the name of Satan is basically the coolest part of any book ever written, second only to when ahab becomes a god of lightning 🐋

Obsessed with this queen taking out an ad for a pay pig in the local paper. I want nothing but good things for her.

Really loving the Moby Dick read along because I reread it a few months ago, so I can participate in the fun discussion without actually having to do any of the work 🐋

One of my favorite bits in Moby Dick is how Ishmael keeps seeing omen after omen prior to boarding the Pequod and is just like, “hm. Another gallows. Which could mean nothing.” 🐋

Wait everyone look at these too
Went looking for interpretations of the Spouter Inn painting and found this excellent example (and very interesting series of MD-inspired paintings) by American artist Christopher Volpe. 🐋https://christophervolpe.blogspot.com/2017/08/loomings.html

Since everyone is reading Moby Dick right now, I want to draw your attention to this incredible interpretation of the Spouter’s Inn painting that I came across on reddit and am obsessed with 🐋

King of the Hill is an inherently conservative show with an undeniably right-wing worldview and it is the only time conservatives have ever been funny

A lot of people being angry about Trump making the White House look ugly which is wild to me because I can’t imagine caring about or respecting the White House enough to give a shit about its aesthetics. We’re a bad country and we deserve to have an ugly, tacky building represent us. It’s funny!

Just realized Melville was 31 when he wrote the greatest novel in the English language 🙃

Reading Moby Dick is like a 4D experience because, just like Ishmael, I now can’t shut the fuck up about whales and whaling
July 31, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Thinking about how Herman Melville didn’t know about whale songs and I’m so upset about this that I need to dig him up and make him write a new chapter

I regret to inform you all that I’m rereading moby dick and it continues to be maybe the best book to ever come out of America? In any case a truly life-altering book and I’m incapable of being normal about how good it is
