Some changes on how rooms can spawn resources. Before it was only collectibles to be spawned, now it can be anything. A room could spawn a a mushroom. After 4 hours it can despawn or turn into a gooey mushroom OR have a 1% chance to turn into an outfit. #gamedev #gamedesign #slimeonline #gamemaker

Invested some time to come up with a plan on how to handle rooms spawning resources. #uml can be a big help. All this planning ahead should make things easier. Next up is getting this implemented into the #slimeonline server. Rooms can spawn resources, resources can evolve. #gamedesign #gamedev

Added vertical water currents to #slimeonline Might not seem like much, but this will make underwater movement more fun and allow for stuff like requiring a stone outfit to gain weight to get past upwards moving currents to secret rooms. Exploration will be huge! #gamemaker #gamedev

My daughter of (since yesterday) 5 years proposed I should add underwater currents to push the player. So, I implemented those yesterday. The visuals are not final (!), and the currents only work on a horizontal axis... but they work. Sorry for the dark video... #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline

Progress! Items can now be dropped and picked up again. Soundeffects for many interactions. Lots of refactoring on the server! Its slowly coming together. Next will be some refactoring in regards to layer depth, after that: Rooms spawning stuff #gamedev #slimeonline #gamemaker

Stuff from the inventory can now be dropped. Up to 30 entities can be dropped before the oldest one will be replaced. After 180 seconds a dropped entity will be removed anyways (later to be moved to a "Lost and Found"). Lots of progress today! #gamemaker #slimeonline #gamedev

Started adding sounds to the inventory. Not final... especially don't like the sound for changing categories (oh, also, the graphics for categories are not final either). Things are finally progressing a lot faster again.. the whole inventory setup took a while #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline

Progress! I didn't get to work much on the game lately...and if I did it was mostly related to creating the inventory UI... which is just NO FUN! But it's working now! It's interactive. The icons are still WIP, but it's progress! Can't wait to be done with this ! #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline

Finally accessories are synced across clients too. I did A LOT of refactoring, getting everything more robust and reusable. The angelwings and halo are two separate accessories and the halo will get an effect where it emitts additional light #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline #pixelart

Light from "outside" will now shine into rooms that are darker by default. These rooms will have a static darkness but will still get light applied from "outside" depending on the current day/night time. #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline

Messing with the day / night transition system right now. Time is based on realtime clock, but I currently simulate it by increasing time by 1 minute every frame (so 1 hour a second). Its pretty smooth and not just alpha change but actual color tint too. #gamemaker #gamedev #slimeonline

Just managed to get moving platforms synced across clients pretty nicely! All is very smooth and reliable. This took a couple attempts to finish, but I am very pleased with the result. Getting a lot done lately!

Might not seem like much, but up until now both client and server were in the same project for "reasons". I now extracted the server from the project into its own project. This will make everything SO MUCH easier to organize <3 #gamedev #gamemaker #slimeonline

Babysteps with the day-night system using Crystal Lighting Engine by @foxyofjungle.bsky.social. Very powerful. Pretty much overpowered for this, but I just LOVE dynamic shadows in low-res pixelart games. Hope I can get this right over time #gamedev #pixelart #gamemaker #slimeonline

Creating mockups for the inventory screen. Stuff can have tags, description, name, effects, assigned colors. Most inventories wont allow for stacking stuff, but some categories do. This is just brainstorming right now. I need to look up references #gamedev #pixelart #gamemaker #slimeonline

Got a lot done today. Hidden passages are in. Ping, FPS counter are in. Outfits are loaded from external files and a lazy way to swap outfits is in. Daughter of 4 years old proposed adding strong currents under water. Will definetly implement that! #gamedev #slimeonline #gamemaker #pixelart

Had a lot of progress on #slimeonline the last couple days. Room loading from files, player handling, ping, drawing players sprite, first interactive things... soon a first connection test with some people. Lot of things still to be added... but its a lot of fun! #gamemaker #gamedev #pixelart
