Stanley first tosses his head back, seeming long-suffering, then as the scene progresses he buries his head in his arms on the table. Stanley: IT WAS SOLD TO ME AS "WELL-PAID EMPLOYMENT". BESIDES, IT'S NOT LIKE I EVEN REMEMBER I HAVE THEM MOST OF THE TIME... WHAT'S WITH PILOTING THE KALIPSO AND... ALL... Now the mood is awkward. Era: YOU KNOW... AS LONG AS I HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT'S UP WITH THAT COLLAR, WE CAN'T REALLY LEAVE ORBIT HERE. IN CASE THE PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE AND WE NEED TO GET ANOTHER ONE. AFTER THE LAST ONE... Then she fell silent. She had never been good at praying - for after all, what was there left for her to pray for? She had already been so blessed. Callahan ran her eyes over the statues in silence, meeting the serene carved gaze of each of the eight gods that formed Kamaat's pantheon. There was Eolas and Rionnag, the twin deities of knowledge, the known and the unknown. Then Cogadh, god of conquest and victory; Peinao, godess of passion and hungering pursuit; Dikaios, patron of the dutiful; Siubhal, protector of travellers and overseer of the afterlife; Vódi, the god of harvest and rain; and Kismet, the goddess of destiny, who wove the tapestry of time. Callahan adressed her usual prayers to the two she considered her personal patrons, Dikaios and Kismet, then added a few words of supplication to Siubhal, asking her for her blessing for the journey ahead. Then, her attention snagged on the empty pedestral at the end of the row. Her lips pressed together. One of the candles surrounding it had been allowed to burn out, and she stood up quickly to replace it. This pedestral marked the place where the statue of Koráki might have been, had he not been banished from the pantheon a hundred and fifty years ago. Still, it was traditional to maintain his empty place. Not in anticipation of him ever returning to his former place, no - the god of endings was far too wicked to ever be welcomed back. But because it was important to awknowledge what had happened, what was missing.

At the front of the room, her father held court. He was sat upon his throne, posture rigid. Had his stature been any less imposing, the man might have appeared dwarfed by the large marble seat streaked with veins of red gemstones. But king Aldric Pendrakken could not be eclipsed, not even by the opulence of his own kingdom. Only he could sit on this elaborately carved, gem-streaked monstruosity and manage to make it appear austere. "Ah, Callahan. Come here," said the man when he saw her enter. He snapped and pointed to the ground at the side of his throne. The right side, which was usually Murdock's position. She gleefully strode forward and took the indicated place, then tried to appear regal and confident as she turned to survey the room. Murdock followed her, then calmly moved to stand on the other side of her father's throne. He had a keener sense of appearances than Callahan did, but even she knew that they must have cut a fine figure at that moment; the king of Kammat's prophecy-touched heir and his assumed successor both flanking his sides like trusted advisors - or loyal hounds, depending on how one viewed the situation.

Today’s fun fact about Wizard King! Have you all ever seen a leather needle? I had never seen one before inheriting my grandma’s sewing kit. I was used to regular sewing needles, so imagine my surprise when I pulled out this beast from the box!

And then I worked it in my book as a hero prop 🤭

So I read @keezyyoung.bsky.social ‘s Hello Sunshine yesterday. It turned out to be a real «read cover to cover in 1 day» book. A really special and honest experience.

Was crying by the end tho. Good tears! It was just really emotional for me idk it was like midnight ahah

The funniest part of Wizard King is that book 1 you are in Autumn’s POV and she thinks she’s in a version of « the beauty and the beast » that could turn into « bluebeard » at any moment so she needs to be sharp and not give this wizard an INCH.

Meanwhile, the story from Eltanin’s POV:
Meme of that scene from Lilo and Stitch where she prays for a friend, but Lilo is labelled « Eltanin » and the text says: I need a wife… I am asking the neighbouring kingdom to send me a princess. The most agreeable and gentle one they have. Then, the frame where Stitch is laughing like a maniac, but he is labelled « Autumn »
