I remember reading that one. I also remember Fricke saying he felt like Cobain lied to him through the whole interview during the seemingly nonstop MTV News coverage of Kurt’s suicide. Which I watched most of, stunned but not surprised.

I must have attended the Friday show. They played 3 encores and Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Kurt seemed happy. I thought the crappy show was the night before, but it must have been after. I’d heard from friends they quit early and Kurt was frustrated.

Women’s lib, uppity blacks, and soft on drugs dems brought down the dignity we used to get from religion and unions apparently, not greedy capitalists and their white daddy enablers selling out jobs overseas and hollowing out entire economies across the county.

George Packer’s The Unwinding was a terrible book that spoke to midwit modwad’s deep kink for lost benevolent white daddy America the same way Hillbilly Elegy did.

The last Pavement reunion tour was pretty great.

I think he’s just not a very deep thinker.

Yes! All of this applies to AI as well. We delude ourselves in thinking an exceptional ability at one thinking process applies universally. And by deluding ourselves we cede power.

Is this a distraction or a signal to his crazies that he’ll absolve them if they attack his enemies?

He authentically seems to enjoy campaigning, which many politicians (understandably) don’t.

I know Rage Against The Machine is a better band than Funk Vigilante, but honestly all but 2 or 3 of their songs sound pretty much the same to me.

“and that toadeater became a word for any obsequious underling. By the early 1800s, it had been shortened and altered to toady, our current term for a servile self-seeker. By the mid-1800s, toady was also being used as a verb meaning "to engage in sycophancy."

“The toadeater would eat (or pretend to eat) what were supposed to be poisonous toads. The charlatan in charge would then "save" the toad-afflicted assistant by expelling the poison. It's little wonder that such assistants became symbolic of extreme subservience…”

Merriam Webster’s word origin captures it perfectly:

“We can thank old-time toadeaters for toady. In 17th-century Europe, a toadeater was a showman's assistant whose job was to make the boss look good.”

Just the most insecure overcompensating spoiled suck ups to power that ever existed.

Willing to do anything to gain favor from on high.

Toadies.

3. Which is why I think we need to call them what they actually are, and not what we fear them to be.

Toadies.

2. Yes, they are doing terrible, hurtful things. Sewing fear and panic. But they’re not actually terrifying people. They’re kind of pathetic. And desperate.
