UKHE & data for work, unraveling terrible politics, takes and politicians for fun.

Currently living the consequences of the intersection of fun and work. Not a fan tbh
They've deployed the newer T2, T3 and T4 Cyberdyne Systems models to draw peasant levies/knights south and breached the north with the older T1 Battlefield Robot

Thats the thing about games like this, Stellaris, CK3 - folk just rush one tech tree and it's so unbalanced that they win

Needs patched

Whenever I read the regulations, I have the overwhelming feeling that they are written to mean exactly what we need them to mean, at the point we need them to mean what we want

I also strongly believe if a student came back a second time and said it wasnt there, or said something different, that would show an uncommitted student who can't understand simple instructions

But an AI pointing this same thing out? Genius level stuff, so useful

I am supremely confident previous years students asking a person the same questions were told "The answer is on the website" and no one checked to see:

1. That information was there
2. That it said what staff think it said

"Right guys, let's just pop them in the reverse vending machine and buy a greggs with the deposit refund"

Did you read the suggested solution though?

Its socialism, but under a single worldwide king appointed directly by God (not the new testament one, the one that smites, turns people to salt, makes bets with Satan about people's faith etc)

You should ask them about it next time

Mamdani didn't seem to have the support of many of the established, elected Democrats

So righting the Labour ship in this model would involve electing people to power who are not supported by the old guard, like the PLP, no?

If we are really lucky she might hold a leadership race for her current party of one

Not convinced she would win that tbh

Scotland has number control already, so how is Dundee situation relevant?

90% of my relationship is scrolling through Netflix or Prime menu screens trying to find something to watch

When GenAI fixes that and lets me say "Muppet Godzilla that runs like Tom Cruise attacks New York, and gets beat by the Ghostbusters" then I'll be a happy man

I'm sure it will move from summarise to generate at some point

"ChatGPT, This scene in Titanic is wrong. Rose is stupid and selfish. There is enough room on the door for Jack. Show me an ending where she moves over and lets him on. Plus the boat doesn't sink and put aliens in it too."

Would be interesting feedback to a student.

"This paper does not meet the marking criteria therefore has not been awarded a pass.

However, chin up, you are now qualified to rewrite welfare rules for the UK Government"

Yes, "interesting" indeed.

On the plus side, I won't need to update my profile on here till at least 2027

He probably can't belive his luck, as it could've been the case that this entire review was focussed on his party's choices in government

He's not going fumble this chance
June 26, 2025 at 4:48 PM
No, that's not how to use this

Imagine this hologram opening with

"WELCOME TO THE NAE-SHIT SHERLOCK SCHOOL OF POLICY -MAKING"

"My name is Pope Bananas V and I'll be your lecturer"
June 4, 2025 at 6:24 PM
I saw someone recently complain that they need to stay on X because that is where scottish politics is for the "nitty gritty"

That nitty gritty is inevitably the stuff that people used to complain about and happend "at the fringe"

It's all fringe, it seems and that is what they want to read

I find that people who answer "Have you read the regulations?"

With something like

"I may, in most cases, have read the regulations except in the cases where I didn't want to"

Normally have actually read, and understood, the regulations

I think that Pope Crackers IV sounds like someone who can do brilliant, but unorthodox, things

The new currency plan is to sit and wait for Reform to wipe out Labour and Tory, then say "The currency plan? It's using Vibes backed Smackoroonies and that is better than this nonesense"
May 9, 2025 at 8:20 PM
What do you read this as then?

Because I read it as saying the messages aren't cutting through, because the narrative has been captured on takes that are resistant to traditional political messaging

The call is to change the messaging, isn't it?
May 5, 2025 at 11:05 AM
Calling for them to embrace the methods of populist communication
May 5, 2025 at 10:51 AM
I don't see much different about this article than that green leadership bid one

Both say public narrative has been captured by emotional driven messaging and responding with "things will better some time in the future, once us serious politicians do serious politics " is pointless in face of that
May 5, 2025 at 10:16 AM
Nah.

It's Vibes all the way down.

It isn't what has been done that matters, it's the vibes about what has been done that drive the vibes about what should be done
