books are the one thing i will never say no to. if we're out shopping and one of our kiddos asks for a book - immediate yes. if we're out and they want a toy...depends. how much is it? do you have one like it at home? will you play with it longer than 4 minutes after it's opened?

The parts of Christianity we've invested ENTIRELY too much time in

Who going with who
where do they "be" putting "it"
who gets to preach the sermons
which method of baptism
How many ethically consenting and informed "boos" you running

none of which make you a better Christian

I don't, and I don't know anyone that does. I definitely buy a piece or two every year IF I find anything worth spending the money on.

my son (4) fought over eating pasta tonight. his dinner was 3 plain chicken nuggets and an apple sauce pouch which he did not eat.

my daughter (19 mos) ate an entire container of easy mac, an applesauce pouch, and a lunch cup of mango.

consumerism is ridiculous, but the week-long thing is better for workers, i think? maybe? most retail workers don't have to work on thanksgiving anymore, at least.

Like, the very first rule of doing anything at all creative is *you have to give a fuck about it*

Using genAI is proof you don't.
