Bird and Beach

Ryan likes to make art inspired by coastal landscapes. Elisabeth likes to draw birds. If you like birds, or beaches, maybe you should follow us in case you also like what we make. 😊
Located overlooking Te Awakairangi in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The team at Next State Print in Melbourne are great! I always go get a test print on paper done first locally, but I can send them my files with good confidence that it's all going to come out beautifully.

Brilliant!

I think our washing machine is particularly rough (it tangles everything, and sometimes manages to unzip the delicates bags). My SIL has the same washing machine and hers is fine - as are her tea towels she has from us.

That’s really good to know! I got a new washing machine right about the time I did the testing with this base fabric, and the super spin feature was a little rough for them, hence the recommendation to use gentle cycles, just in case.

I’m also really chuffed with how beautifully the fabric shows the details.

I will admit the same thought crossed my mind as I was taking the photo!

Thank you, I was pretty chuffed with how they turned out. 😊

While we're at it... We've only got a few of the calendars left, and the last date for ordering in time for holiday gifting is Wednesday, 10 Dec. If you thought you needed one, now's the time - the price has dropped to $25 + shipping. Get them while you can!

I can DM you now after all, so have sent you info for claiming your prize. 😊

Now that’s weird, you should be able to… tried to message you, but there was no button on your profile either. I even went looking for the settings last night to make sure mine were open (and could not find them, so I’m wondering if there is a glitch).

Kia ora Toby, you had the closest guess - well done!

Please send us a DM so we can organise getting your prize tea towel to you. 🏆

Almost all of you were very flattering in your estimates of how many I'd get through (if I hadn't had to cut 9.2m of fabric first, I might have got through more)...butnobody guessed tekau mā tahi (11) so the closest was @jazzcomputer.bsky.social who guessed tekau mā rua (12). Well done Toby! 🎉

That would have been a very long evening indeed... I started from scratch - cutting all the fabric (9.2m worth) first, and on a good day, it's 5 minutes to press all the hems in place.

And thank you, I'm glad you like them!

I wanted to do a video of me sewing the first pōhutukawa tea towel, because they’ve come out so beautifully, but it turns out that the phone holder for my tripod is one of the things still packed away (in a mystery location), and the resulting video might cause seasickness so here’s a photo instead.
