So I do not think difficulty adapting to the non-standard arrangement was even common, but I was unprepared for what a mental wall it was for the people that *did* find it difficult.

Yeah the character has a melee weapon in right hand and ranged in left, so having camera match the gun shoulder felt most natural. During development we were all playing other right-shoulder games outside work and nobody remarked it until one player mentioned it our very final pre-release playtest.

We had several Steam comments on our recent launch that whose brains could not wrap themselves around the camera being *over the left shoulder instead of the right.* I added a swap button in a patch cuz it happened to be easy, but I was caught off guard by how many people just couldn't deal.

I didn't do this I tend to dissociate instead of cry. worth the $7 though, and it even provides a few hours of calories.

This is something I've been thinking about a lot as an indie developer. Managing expectations, so the people who will enjoy a game on its terms find it, rather than those who expect something else. It feels like potentially the *most* important controllable lever to success currently.
